Te Wiki o te Reo Maori
When pronouncing Maori just remember the vowel sounds are a as in Are, e as in there, i as in three,
o as in or, u as in two. (Are there three or two). I hope you will give some te reo a go this week.
Here are some simple everyday phrases.
Hello – Kia ora, Tena koe (greeting to one) Tena koutou (greetings to 3 or more people) Tena korua
(Greetings to 2)
How are you? Kei te pehea koe/ koutou/ korua?
Good – Kei te pai.
Bye – Haere ra! (speaker stays) E noho ra. (Speaker leaves)
