This year we plan to hold the cultural festival near the end of Term 4. Our Concept for Learning in Term 4 is Future and our inquiry is going to be around what New Zealand may look like in the future (considering all our different ethnic groups).

The theme of the cultural festival will revolve around the facts that:

• we all belong in Aotearoa New Zealand
• we celebrate the diversity of peoples and cultures
• we look to the future as an integrated nation with our many peoples contributing to help our country be an inclusive, peaceful, colourful and interesting country in which to live

The plan is to hold a Cultural Festival in the evening with a

• celebration of cultures (dance, song, poetry) lasting about 1 hour and linked with the theme that we are all New Zealanders
• shared meal, lasting about 1 hour,  with everyone contributing
• songs from various cultures, lasting about half an hour, concluding with Christmas Carols
