All throughout the year we emphasise our Mercy Values of
Tika – Justice Pono – Truth Aroha – Compassion Manaakitanga – Hospitality Tapu – Respect (with special emphasis on our Environment)
and try to incorporate them into the ways we live and learn here at our school. When considering within our families, the values that we consider to be important, may we suggest to you that you also include or incorporate the values we are trying to live by at school. We find that it is helpful, for instance, to ask ourselves and the children the question “What do you think Manaakitanga-Hospitality might look like in our school, our class, our home?” Following this would be a discussion and then a decision about how we are going to be hospitable people.
