Congratulations to Raewen Puntanar, Ally Basa, Leticia Adolphe and Madeleine McCarthy who represented St Joseph’s at a North Shore Inter-school Swimming Competition!
“We went to the Takapuna Leisure Centre on Friday 4 April with Mr Puntunar. We were competing against 14 North Shore Schools and there were about 200 competitors.
We came second over all in the freestyle and medley relays. Raewen won 2 gold medals for the 33 Butterfly and 66 Breaststroke and a silver medal in the 100 Freestyle. Madeleine came second in the 33 Freestyle and 33 Breaststroke. Leticia placed third in the 33 metre freestyle and came 3rd again in the 33 metre Breastroke. Ally came second in the 66 metre Backstroke and in the 33m Backstroke.
It was a great experience and was a challenge also because, apart from Raewen who trains all the time, the rest of us train infrequently! As well, we were the smallest team in the competition!
We would like to acknowledge the work of Mr Puntanar who was our manager throughout, making sure we knew what to do and when. We couldn’t have competed without him!”
