Principal for the Day

                                Maddy McCarthy

In the morning I went to Jump Jam and then I went back to Room 1 for prayers and then Mrs Bon preferred not to have my company in the class! I went back to the office to see what Ms O’Connell-Cooper was doing then had a look at the photos because I didn’t really know to do. I went up to Team Kiwi and it was nice up there and helped them with their reading, writing and helped them tidy up. Jared read to me. I shouted the staff a lovely morning tea – ginger crunch! I talked to the teachers at morning tea time. After morning tea we had an environmental talk and then the children shared their amazing bottle art. I didn’t eat lunch because I had to do duty! After lunch, the Juniors came to the Hall for an environmental talk and to share their bottle art. And that’s my day!

Lockdown at St Joseph’s

An incident today prompted the need for the school to go into lockdown. Systems were in place and apart from some fine tuning needed, we are confident that we are prepared for another such situation should it occur.  We will review our procedures with staff and improve any areas of weakness. The school links text and email communication was effective. Parents do need to ensure we have email addresses that they have access to at any time of the day and that cell phone numbers are current.

The Building Programme

Progress continues according to plan with the steel work ahead of schedule. Foundations to the verandah are well on the way. There is new step access at the back of the hall to and from the carpark which means children and parents should use the exterior path to the right of the hall rather than going through the hall. The first floor slab is due to be poured within the next two weeks. The lower floor near the hall is taking shape rapidly.

God bless! Stay safe.  Have a great weekend.
