God is Creator
God is the focus of all that is ‘seen and unseen’. Each person is God’s unique creation made in love for love. We are called to respect our own dignity – tapu as persons made in God’s image, the dignity of others and the value of all parts of creation. We are sacred and holy because we share in the Tapu of God. We are also called to respond with praise and worship of God.
Our Gracious God
God is Gracious – a great giver of gift. The greatest of these gifts of love is Jesus who revealed that God is Abba – his loving Father – Matua, who is also our Father. Our response to God’s gifts of grace is to truly appreciate them and to live lives of gratitude.” Family – Whanau Book
Aroha in Action!
Performed by year 7 and 8 students from Carmel College.
By: Janine O our Student Reporter
On Monday, Kakariki and Kereru team walked all the way to Carmel College to watch their fantastic show. The show was made especially for the production, that was going to be performed by the year 7 and 8 students
It was about a girl named Aroha who was going to sell their family of cheeky monkeys at the market. Even though her two sisters were captured by the monkeys she persevered to find them. She ended up at a pirate’s market where she finds some pirates who might be able to help her. She pleads for help and the pirates end up telling her the tale of the monkeys who were cursed to be naughty by the Witch. They told her where to find the Witch and Aroha continues her journey. She strides into the Witch’s cave and helps her out with some problems. Eventually, she lifts the curse of the monkeys and Aroha brings her sisters back home safely.
I found this show very entertaining because it was musical and I can tell that they worked very hard on this presentation. They even made a gigantic witch sewed and stitched out of heaps of different materials!
Here are a few questions that were kindly answered by Ally Basa, Year 8, from Carmel College:
How long did it take to practise and perfect the show?
“It took us about 2 terms to do this.”
How did you make the props?
“We had help from Willa Cameron and a teacher named Mrs Menzies”
Who had the idea to do this show?
“Willa Cameron who is the creator of the show and another teacher named Mrs Verdonk”.
Here is the link with all the info about their show:
Kereru Team organised and ran a highly successful and impressive Charity Expo on Friday morning. My hope is we will have a report and some photos for next week.
Prayers are asked for Mrs Julie Kelly for a full and speedy recovery.
Have a lovely weekend.
