CATHOLIC CHARACTER NEWS
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
We have 100 boxes to date. Thank you to everyone who has generously donated a Christmas box for a child in need. If you haven’t, you are welcome to get a box from the school office and fill it with gifts for a child. The boxes are sent to children who will truly appreciate the box they are given for Christmas.
CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY
Tomorrow, Wednesday 8 November, we will be having our first Celebration Assembly for this term in the hall, beginning at 1.45pm. At this assembly we will be acknowledging student achievements. The Choir will share a few of the songs they sang at the Kids for Kids concert last night, the certificates for the school athletics day will be handed out and we will be acknowledging the students currently preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Kiwi team will be sharing the learning they have been doing. You are welcome to join us for this celebration.
HOME GROUP MASSES
Last week Home Groups 5 and 6 attended Mass with the Parish. HG6 support Monsignor David Tonks with the beautiful Mass on All Saints Feast Day.
This week we have HG 3 attending the Parish Mass tomorrow morning at 9.15am. You are welcome to join them.
LEARNING LANDSCAPE
Thank you so much to the parents who were able to join us for the Learning Landscape information evening. It was wonderful to hear and receive your ideas on the learning landscape plan. If you were unable to attend that evening, you are welcome to view the plan in the staffroom, and if you wish, record your ideas.
The poles for the new shade sails and the COLA (covered outdoor learning area) will be going in tomorrow. The shade sail installation is being funded by the PTFA. Thank you for your support of their fundraising events through the year.
PHOTOS
A reminder to Home Groups 13, 14, 15 and 16 (Mrs Pratt, Ms Kang, Mrs Dunne, Mrs Bridgman) that your class photos are on Friday 10 November. Please ensure your child is in their full correct uniform (change of clothes for athletics in a named bag please).
Sports photos will be in school uniform.
ARTS
KIDS FOR KIDS
Congratulations to our choir for their wonderful performance at last night’s North Shore Kids for Kids concert. The concert was titled ‘Kiwi As’.
Our students along with the students from schools around NZ sang a range of songs from NZ musicians and from a range of decades. The students were accompanied by Jackie Clarke and Nathan King. It was certainly an amazingly entertaining evening. Thank you to Mrs Wannenburg for supporting our students in their preparation for this concert.

Quikhit Cricket By Amelia L
On Thursday 19 October there was an all day cricket tournament for girls only, called Quikhit Cricket at Takapuna Cricket Club. There were 2 other schools at the tournament, Willow Park and Beach Haven Primary, Saint Joseph’s sent 3 teams. One year six team, a year five team and a combined year three and four team.
There were eight or more players in a team. We all played three games and bowled six overs and had a chance to bat.
Our year six team came first in the league. It was a great day everyone had fun and learnt something new. For some of us it was a good opportunity to learn a new sport.
This is the year 5 team
