ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC
SCHOOL
TAKAPUNA
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Whanau and Parents,
Today we welcome our new students and new families to our school community. It is wonderful to have them join us and we know they will be warmly welcomed in person when we are allowed to return to school.
These students will be in Home Group 19. Their teachers are Mrs Susanna Nikolic and Miss Laura Bateman and they look forward to meeting their new class in person on our return to school.
The Prime Minister announced this afternoon that we will be in Alert Level 4 through to Tuesday 14 September. The Cabinet will review the Alert Level for Auckland on Monday 13 September. As a consequence of this announcement and the potential dropping of Alert Levels in two week blocks, the rest of the school Term 3 programme has been adjusted. Should the Cabinet review and present an alternative plan, we will align the programme accordingly.
Thank you to all the students who have been participating in the Online Programme of Learning, including watching school prayers. The teachers enjoy seeing and responding to the work being done by students. Thank you for the many lovely prayers and photos of children reading their books.
Take care. Stay safe.
The Principal’s Message will cover the following topics

WELCOME
We extend a warm welcome to Zoe, Summer, Matilda, Isabella, Amie, Hudson and Maverick who began their schooling at home in Alert Level 4 today. This was not the start to schooling they were expecting. However, when we can have a full school prayers in our hall, we will be able to sing our ‘Welcome’ song to them at our first ‘onsite’ school prayers.
Welcome to our new families.
ROSMINI COLLEGE – LOCATION OF INTEREST
An event held for some students and their families of Rosmini and Carmel Colleges, on Friday 13 August 6.20 pm – 10 pm became a location and time of interest. Should anyone attend a location of interest they need to contact the Healthline 0800 358 5453 immediately. Please monitor the MOH Locations of Interest website regularly. If our school became a location of interest the Ministry of Health would contact me directly. I in turn would contact the school community immediately via the school email system/school website.

ONLINE PROGRAMME OF LEARNING
The Online Programme of Learning (OLPL) has been designed to allow students to access it as and when it works for their family and their resources. Every family develops their own Alert Level 4 and 3 routines and it is great to see students accessing it appropriate to their circumstance. The OLPL is updated each Sunday evening for the week ahead.

SCHOOL PRAYERS
These are available daily on the ‘Principal St Josephs’ YouTube Channel.
Every day is different. They are available from 9am and are viewable for that day.
Students are welcome to send prayers to principal@sj.school.nz which will be read out in the next couple of days.
READ & FEED
This week we have introduced Read & Feed to the ‘Principal St Josephs’ YouTube Channel. This is done daily as part of the normal school programme of learning so the children will be familiar with it. At 10.30 am, you will see ‘picture books’ being read live on the channel; and at 2pm, a novel for the older children will be read. As with school prayers, these posts will stay up on the channel for the children to access when it works for them and their family.
