ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC
SCHOOL
TAKAPUNA
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Kia Ora Whanau
We have just come to the end of week three of Lent. Lent is a time to focus on prayer, fasting and almsgiving. These are adult concepts. For our children we focus on prayer and doing for others. As a school we discuss with the children about how they can choose to support the family by doing an activity they normally don’t do, through Lent. This could be doing the dishes, or making their bed each day. It would be great if whanau could support and encourage their children with their chosen activity along with prayer, through Lent.
The PTFA are doing a Hot Cross Bun fundraiser. The details are below. The Hot Cross Buns are delicious, so be sure to get your order in. Your children will bring them home just before Easter weekend.
Easter weekend sees the school closed Friday 29 March – Tuesday 2 April. On Friday 5 April we will end our Easter celebrations with our Colour Fun Run. We had a highly successful Colour Fun Run last year and we are looking forward to repeating this fun event along with having the water slide and an outside disco. More details will come out in the coming weeks.
Last night the Board had their first meeting for 2024. At the first Board meeting of each year the Presiding Member is elected. Eric Esnouf decided it was time to step aside from the role in order to allow another member of the Board to transition into the role, with his support. Eric will continue to hold his role as a Proprietor’s Representative until the end of this Board’s term. Our new Presiding Member is Kristen Waters. Congratulations and thank you to Kristen for agreeing to take up this important position. Thank you to Eric for his calm, caring leadership of our Board and, in turn, our children, staff and school community.

However, we do need a core group of older students for the main roles and speaking parts. Please email Annette Woodhead annettew@sj.school.nz if your child would be available to take part.
