PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Kamusta

It was lovely to be able to welcome so many new children and their families at this morning’s school prayers. It is great to have new children in our school whanau, across the levels. Monday this week, we opened a new class for the Kiwi Team: Home Group 13. We welcome back Sinead McAteer to our teaching team. Ms McAteer will be teaching HG 13.

On Wednesday evening this week, a number of our children received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. This is one of seven Sacraments in our church. The Sacraments are a gift from God. It truly is a blessing to be able to support and celebrate the faith journey of our children. Congratulations to the children and their families on receiving this Sacrament. These children will also be receiving the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist later this year.

As was mentioned in last week’s Principal Message there are plenty of winter bugs around. Please monitor your child’s health and if they are showing cold and flu symptoms please keep them at home.

Congratulations to the Filipino community on their upcoming Independence Day. A wonderful day of celebration for you all.

Take care

SHARING THE LEARNING

3×3 GIRLS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

On Wednesday, Yr 4s and Yr 5s joined forces to compete in a 3×3 Girls Basketball Tournament. In my team, there was Arianna, Hannah and Indi. In the other team, there was Mekeia, Esther, Olivia, Erin and Ludmilla. It was really fun and a good way to learn new skills. My team was called St Joe’s Suns and the other team was called St Joe’s Lunar. We could pick between social and competitive. It was cool when we weren’t playing because we could go upstairs and cheer the teams who were playing. We tried really hard and played our best. Maybe we could get more girls to join next year and it doesn’t matter about winning – it’s more about having fun.
