BEACH EDUCATION

Home Group 9 and 10 had their Beach Ed day at school due to the Tsunami threat.

When we arrived at school we were disappointed because we weren’t going to the beach. We did not know that the teachers had a big surprise for us. We had the BEST day. Four lifeguards from Mairangi Bay came to teach us about beach safety, sun-smart and how to avoid rips. They told us lots about what lifeguards do to keep people safe. After morning tea we played games and at lunchtime we pretended we were at the beach having a picnic. We practised slip, slop, slap and wrap before we sat on our towels for our picnic. Ms Jenny put up her beach umbrella. Then came the surprise. We were told to put our togs on. We wondered why? We went outside with our water bottles and suddenly we were wet. The teachers sprayed us with the hose. It was such a lot of fun. Everyone was squealing and shouting and enjoying their Beach Ed day at St Joseph’s School.
