Principal’s Message
It was wonderful to wander down to the lower field early last week and see the new play equipment engulfed by the tamariki. Each piece of equipment have very little paint showing. The tamariki are really enjoying the new swings which are two single swings and two lillypad swings. Then there are the parallel bars with the flying fox in the middle. The piece of equipment is the lunar spinner (whirligig) which the tamariki are having an amazing time on. One of the wonderful outcomes to observe is the tamariki demonstrating the school motto courtesy, care, cooperation and courage. They are enjoying the challenges these pieces of equipment provide. The attraction of that new equipment sees the tamariki taking care to have turns and looking after each other, as all age groups are allowed to play on it. Our sincere thanks to the PTFA, the Board of Trustees and the greater school community for making this addition to our playground possible. The next stage will be the installation of a slide on the bank below the courts.
On Friday our school community celebrated a lovely All Saints Day Mass with the parish. The ākonga sang beautifully and were supported by our amazing choir. It was lovely to see so many of our school community at the Mass being a part of this very special Mass on the church calendar, which our students led with great confidence and skill. Our thanks to Monsignor David Tonks for the wonderful way in which he celebrates the Mass and makes it so relevant to the tamariki.
Yesterday we had the final house mass for the year. Alphonsus House led the 10 am Sunday Mass for the Parish. Our thanks to the Alphonsus House students for their involvement in the Mass and to our choir for their beautiful singing. We are so blessed to be part of such a supportive parish.
Thank you so much for your support of our October Mission. We have just over one hundred shoeboxes filled with Christmas gifts to give to Operation Christmas Child. This is outstanding. Thank you for being so generous. If you still have a box at home or items for a Christmas box, you still have time to get it to the school office.

Dear Members of the PTA
On behalf of all the Saint Joseph’s children, I thank you for all the joy and energy you have given us. If it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t have that amazing new playground area. Even when you fundraised the fitness-athon you still managed to make it full of fun, exercise and enjoyment every second. Again, thank you for the playground extension, that all the children rush to play at.
Best wishes,
Beth and all the children from the Kakariki Team

Our sincere thanks to Matt and Jess Walsh for providing our school community with the opportunity to attend the NZ Breakers game last Thursday night. It was very generous of them to provide our families tickets to this game which saw the NZ Breakers playing the Cairns Taipans. Many of our families attended the game and were delighted to see our team win 93 – 85. A great evening for all.
