Principal Message – 12 November

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents

Thank you for completing the Part Time Student School Survey on Wednesday. This information has assisted us with planning for the return of students on a part time basis for the remainder of the school year.

Based on the information the response to the survey and the Ministry of Education guidelines, we have developed the following programme

  • MOE Criteria
  • MOE Purpose for Part Time School
  • Home Groups
  • Programme of Learning for ALL students
  • Health & Safety
  • Drop Off & Pickup
  • Uniform

Our team are still working through some of the finer details of the extended opening of the school but wanted to give you an overview of the programme before the weekend, to enable you to make a more informed decision about whether your child will continue their learning online or in the classroom over the coming weeks. We will provide access to more detailed information early next week.

I also want to provide some reassurance regarding the vaccination status of our staff. I can confirm that everyone complies with all Public Health requirements, as issued by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education.

Later this afternoon you will receive an email informing you which days your child will be attending school, from your child’s Home Group teacher. Part Time School begins Thursday 18 November.

  • Good ventilation will be achieved by open windows, doors and vents in all learning spaces
  • The MOE requires face coverings to be worn by staff and students of Years 4 – 6 when indoors. We will be requiring staff and students Year 3 – 6 to wear masks as we have Year 3/4 home groups
  • Face coverings are not required, by the MOE, to be worn in schools by staff or students, for Years 1 to 3, however our Year 1 – 2 staff will wear masks if it doesn’t interrupt the connection with the young children
  • Home Groups will not interact and breaks and areas to play in will be timetabled to avoid cross over
  • Only essential staff are allowed on site
  • No students or staff are to come to school if displaying any symptoms of illness.
  • If sick, all students and staff are required to contact the Ministry of Health and follow their direction
  • Parents required to collect sick children will be contacted, and are to wait in the car until the child is brought to them
  • Parents of all children sent home sick are asked to contact the MOH healthline to get directions as to what they are to do. They then contact the school to inform them as to what the next steps are.
