PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
12 February 2023
Dear Parents
Late this afternoon Auckland schools received a recommendation from the Secretary of Education that they should close Monday 13 February. This is due to recent information from Emergency Management advising the upgrading of the warning to Red for Auckland. Schools should reopen as soon as possible, subject to mitigating and managing risks.
St Joseph’s Catholic School Takapuna will be closed to students and staff on Monday 13 February.
On the afternoon of Monday 13 February a review will be carried out to assess if the school can open Tuesday or needs to stay closed. The school community will be notified of the decision late Monday afternoon.
This decision reflects advice from the Auckland Emergency Management, NZ Metservice and Auckland Transport. All are asking that travel is kept to a minimum and that people stay at home over the next 48 hours. Auckland remains in a State of Emergency.
We are looking forward to returning as soon as it is safe for the students to do so. Please take care over the next 48 hours. Our thoughts and prayers are with the school community.
