St Joseph's Cultural Festival

Children, parents and teachers are all busy preparing for this event which is on Friday 7 December starting at 5 p.m.

This is one of our main end of year events for the whole school community and it is expected that every child will attend with their family.

  • The Venue is Netball North Harbour Arena A M I Netball Centre 44 Northcote Road, Northcote 8052
  • The surface is wooden- only bare feet or soft shoes can be worn-for performers and audience alike
  • All of the  children will be seated in their cultural, dance, choir or class groups  on mats which will create a kind of carpet frame around the stage area
  • After their performance, children will return to where they were sitting previously
  • Adults are invited to bring cushions and sit around the outside of the children, but about 100 chairs will be provided at one end  for people who need them (there is also seating upstairs which possibly some elderly people may prefer or families with young children)
  • No chairs, tables or sticks are allowed on to the wooden floor
  • It is a ‘bring food to share’ night and each family will need to bring enough food for their family and some additional to share. It would be great if families can bring food that is significant to their country of origin or culture (we hope to start the meal at about 6 p.m.) It will also be necessary to bring your own paper plates, plastic glasses and utensils
  • We do not have a licence for alcohol-neither BYO or served
  • All food will have to be taken upstairs before the Festival starts at 5.00 as no food is allowed in the arena
  • We will be asking for gold coin donations to help cover the cost of hiring the facility
  • After the meal, as near to 7 p.m. as possible, we will be returning to the arena and singing together some Advent and Christmas Songs for about half an hour

It’s going to be a great night with a few surprises!
