- relationship between teacher and learner
- ethos of learning to learn
- providing scaffolds, stepping stones and a safe environment enabling learners to be independent and self-directed
- PHILOSOPHY OF LEARNING
growth mindset
teachers cause learning to happen
learning is finding out what you don’t know
everything is hard before it’s easy
First Attempt In Learning (FAIL) approach to making mistakes
develop the skills for learning to learn

courage needed to take risks, try again, be honest
ENSURE EVERYONE KNOWS THE LEARNING PROCESS
what? why? how?
take learners to the edge of their comfort zone and support them to step out
teach strategies
provide scaffolds
know what to do when unsure, stuck, confused and to understand that this difficult time is often when learning is about to occur
thinking dispositions – like rungs on a ladder to climb out of the “Pit”
learn to reflect and consider next steps
CELEBRATE THE LEARNING
not just the end result
learn to reflect on the process and how we can do better next time
