Something to think about!
What do kids today need to succeed in college, career and life?
Students must not only be prepared for future education and work, but for their role in the world around them. Each one is equally important to ensuring and shaping a child’s successful future.
Preparing children for 21st century learning and citizenship is a team effort. As parents, we can support 21st century learning at school while we help to inspire and expand our children’s horizons at home. By doing this, we help our children become:
Informed about and ready to respond to local, national and global issues;
Knowledgeable in core academic subjects as well as more complex areas such as the environment, finance, the economy, health and business; and
Able to participate safely, intelligently, productively and responsibly in the digital world.

Mikal’s recount of his trip to USA
“July 3, was a fateful day, when I would be leaving Auckland to go to “The City Beautiful”, “Theme Park Capital of The World”, Orlando, to play basketball! I was glad to be picked for this amazing experience! But first, it took us 2 days to get there, stopovers at Tahiti and Los Angeles. But once we got there, the tournament was just getting started at the Orange County Convention Centre. We won our first game, it was hard, but winning against an American team felt great, and that gave us a lot of confidence for the rest of the tournament, which carried over to our next game. We played really well, but unfortunately, we lost. For the rest of the tournament, we played well as a team, but we lost the rest of our games which was a bit disappointing. Our record for our tournament was 1-4. After the tournament finished the whole team journeyed to Wet n’ Wild. The highlight of the trip was the day before we left, when mum and I explored Universal Studios! Just us. We went on a lot of rides, and I’ll never forget it. What an awesome trip it was! I would like to thank everyone who supported me on this adventure!’
