Ginger V wins North Shore Cluster 3 Speech finals

On 31 August Ginger V made St Joseph’s School very proud by winning 1st place in the North Shore Cluster 3 Zone Speech final.

                                 2015 winners in speech competition

Ginger’s speech showed how deeply she felt about “standing up to bullies” and she had some really good ideas for doing this. She spoke calmly and confidently and definitely persuaded the audience with her ideas.

Best wishes to Ginger when she competes in the Auckland Event Monday 21st.

The Day the EARTH MONSTER tamed the Earthquake Beast!

BOOM! The house hit the ground smashing into a million pieces as the Earthquake Beast ripped its way across the ground, exterminating everything in its path. As the beast ran, he left enormous footprints. His violent feet smashed open the ground, creating giant cracks. People were screaming and running. Pandemonium spread through every city across the earth.

Suddenly, a slow rumble started deep down inside the earth. THE EARTH MONSTER WAS AWAKE! It slowly crept up to the surface. As it lifted its heavy feet from the ground, a piece of shattered glass fell on him, leaving an enormous crack on his head. The Earth Monster picked up the glass full of bright red blood. “AAAAAAAH!” It screamed in pain. It plummeted towards the Earthquake Beast. It was raging with anger.

The Earth Monster grabbed the Earthquake Beast with his big, muscular arms. The Earthquake Beast flew through the sky landing on a pile of ashes. It slowly picked itself up running towards the Earth Monster, ready to strike back. The Earth Monster was, by now, plunging itself back on to the Earthquake Beast, heaving it down into a dark, lonely abyss.

The Earth Monster pushed and pushed. “Any last words?” he said. “Please don’t do this to me!” said the Earthquake Beast.

“Too late! You have disturbed me. Now you will pay the price.”

The Earth Monster slowly closed the abyss, leaving the Earthquake Beast in the darkness. Forever.

NETBALL

The 2015 Kidzplay Netball Winter League Prize giving was held on Saturday, 12th September 2015 in the Pinehurst School Gymnasium.  Two of our three teams, which play in the competitive grade, were invited to the Prize giving with a 1st and 2nd place!

The Year 3 St Joseph’s Super Stars were Runners Up in the “A grade “which is a wonderful achievement. It was a very tough competition, as half the team were new to netball this year and the remainder played in the “E” grade last year, so a huge effort by all to be the best they could be!

The Year 2 St Joseph’s Little Ferns had a great first year playing netball and won their “Tawa” grade.
